The Mum Pod: Providing Comfort & Support to Parents

The Drive: What challenges have you overcome?

Imposter syndrome 100%. In the beginning, I constantly questioned whether I could support others while still figuring things out in my own motherhood journey. I worried that I had to be perfectly ‘sorted’ to help anyone else. But over time, I’ve come to realise that lived experience isn’t a weakness, it’s a superpower. Parents don’t want perfection. They want someone who gets it. Someone who’s in the thick of it with them and can offer grounded, non-judgemental guidance.

Building a business from the ground up has also come with its own steep learning curve. I’ve had to wear every hat: marketing manager, admin assistant, content creator, sleep consultant, doula, all while juggling drop-offs, sudden sick days and life with little ones. It’s been a masterclass in resilience, time management and grace under pressure.

And perhaps most importantly, I’ve learned the emotional toll that comes with holding space for others. Supporting families through vulnerable, tender moments means I have to protect my own energy too. Through boundaries, rest, supervision and a commitment to my own wellbeing. It’s a balance I’m still learning, but one I take seriously so I can continue doing this work with presence and heart.

For Better or Worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

Pros? Freedom. Purpose. Knowing I’m doing work that genuinely supports and uplifts others. I get to bring my values into everything I do and connect deeply with the families I support. I also get to do this. Its a privilege to be able to support families as a whole.

Cons? Wearing all the hats can be draining. The work doesn’t stop when the kids go to bed. But the trade-off is worth it. I’ve never felt more aligned with the work I do, or more committed to the families I serve.

Hopes and Dreams: What’s next?

I’m deeply passionate about changing the culture around how we support parents. Not just at home, but in the workplace too. One of my biggest focuses now is expanding my work with employers and HR teams through my Corporate Doula services, helping organisations create more empathetic, flexible and inclusive return-to-work experiences. The goal? To close the gap between policy and real life, because tick-box benefits aren’t enough. Parents deserve to feel seen and supported as whole humans, not just employees.

I’ve recently had the opportunity to speak at The Mum Club in Guildford, where we talked about sleep, identity and the invisible load mothers carry. I’m excited to bring that conversation to Bracknell next, and eventually, to host my own in-person events where parents can gather, learn and feel less alone.

In the near future, I’d love to launch a group programme, a podcast or even an app or book. Something that allows my support to reach more families in a grounded, accessible way. But my dream isn’t about scaling for the sake of growth. It’s about creating space where parents feel held, not hurried.

Because what I know, from both personal experience and professional insight, is this: we are not meant to do this alone. Parenthood was never meant to be isolating. There is a gentler, supported way through, and The Mum Pod is here to walk beside you.

Sammy has been the most incredible support to me as a brand new mom. The noise out there is so loud. She simplified everything and I’m a better parent, partner & human for it! She’s the real deal.
