10 Ways to Help New Mums in Your Life

7. Help With Thank-You Notes

It’s likely that your friend has received a million gifts and is way behind on sending a formal appreciation for each one.

First, let the new mum know she doesn’t need to send you a thank-you note to relieve her. Second, ask her if she needs help writing the other thank-you notes and sending them out. Or, you could offer to hold her baby while she finishes them.

8. Take Her on a Baby-Friendly Adventure

Consider getting her out of the house. Chances are good she hasn’t been outside in weeks and needs a new change in setting. It could be as simple as going on a walk with her or treating her to lunch.

9.  Avoid Overstaying Your Welcome

Unless you’re helping with the baby, leaving before overstaying your welcome is a good idea. While she loves you as a close friend, she may not have the energy for the company. Be mindful of your time and come back over when she’s feeling up to it.

10. Organise Others to Bring Food

Consider gathering a group of friends to pitch in and ensure the new mum is fed during the early days. You can provide the participants with a list of her favourite foods and restaurants by creating a page on MealTrain.

Ensure there’s a combination of healthy meals, too. That way, she gets all the nutrition she needs to feel good.

Provide a Helping Hand

If you have a friend that recently gave birth, you may be at a loss as to what exactly you should do to help. The good news? There are lots of ways you can lend a helping hand, and many of them don’t involve too much time or effort.

What’s more, every new mother appreciates the support they receive in this difficult time, so show your friendship by making sure you do what you can.
