Matching Moments: Celebrate Connection, Creativity & Joy

Peppermint Peach

Peppermint Peach founder Zahra Killin has built a brand that celebrates connection, creativity and the joy of matching family outfits. Inspired by motherhood and a lifelong love of creating, what began with nap-time sketching sessions, handmade samples and playful designs rooted in her own childhood has grown into a heartfelt business, creating clothing that sparks happiness, feels incredible to wear and creates family memories. Their cute designs are made for the whole family – even your fur babies! Here, Zahra talks to The Natural Parent Magazine about the passion behind Peppermint Peach, her biggest breakthrough, how she balances work and family life, and her hopes and dreams for the future.

The passion: What inspired you to set up your business?

Peppermint Peach was born from nostalgia, motherhood and a lifelong love of creating. My mum knew when I was five that I’d one day have my own label. I was always making or drawing something. After becoming a mum myself, I wanted to design clothing that sparks joy, feels beautiful to wear and uses natural fibres that are better for our bodies than polyester. Years ago, my family started wearing the “ugly Christmas shirts” I made for everyone, which reignited my love for matching outfits. Matching isn’t just cute – it creates memories.

The launch: How did you start out in the beginning?

I started during nap times with a sketchbook and sewing machine, and when naps were refused, my daughter would sit on my lap while I sketched. I drew every print, drafted every pattern and sewed the first samples myself. My debut collection, Peanut Butter & Jam, was a love letter to the fun and chaos of family life. I loved peanut butter as a kid, and now my daughter is just as obsessed!

The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?

The biggest breakthrough was realising I could manufacture offshore sustainably. For a long time, I thought true sustainability meant doing everything myself, but that wasn’t sustainable for my family life. Finding ethical partners who value small runs, beautiful 100% cotton, fair working conditions and minimal waste has been game-changing. I even save my fabric offcuts to turn into accessories and other projects.

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

Some days it feels easy; others, it’s pure chaos! But my family always comes first. My daughter is part of everything. She loves playing with fabrics and the joy on her face when we wear our matching outfits makes it all worth it. I build my work around her, not the other way around, and that’s made the journey even more special.
