An Eco-Friendly Lifestyle Made Easy

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

Imposter syndrome has been one of the biggest challenges. There are times when self-doubt feels like it’s on max volume and it feels easier to chuck the towel in.

I almost felt embarrassed talking about my business to others in the beginning, worried that they wouldn’t think it was as great as I did, but I have learned to find my voice and be confident in what I am building. It is actually something worth celebrating.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

The biggest pro is that if it’s truly your passion, it brings genuine joy.

If you’re willing to delegate, there are amazing companies out there that can assist in areas that aren’t your strong point, taking that pressure off. You just have to choose the right people that align with your values and deliver the quality of work you are seeking.

The biggest con is that profitability doesn’t happen overnight and you really have to be prepared to reinvest those first sales back into the business. To keep things afloat, you have to return to employment, but if you commit and stay focused on the long-term picture, it should work out. Most businesses take five years to really start seeing decent growth and returns. Keeping this in mind helps you stay focused, as it’s easy to lose hope.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

We hope to expand the range this year to include skincare and cleaning products. Longer term dreams for the business would be opening a bricks and mortar store, then expanding potentially through franchising. Making good quality alternatives easily accessible for everyone is the goal.
