Beautiful Planners for Beautiful, Chaotic Lives

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

My biggest challenge is probably lack of experience. As a farmer, nurse and mum, there’s not even a sprinkle of marketing, advertising, website building or any of that sort of thing in my background. So probably the biggest challenge has been learning everything completely from scratch and doing lots of things wrong the first time.

I’ve told myself from the beginning that if I keep trying, I can’t fail, so that’s what we’re going for. There have been lots of small fails along the way, but I’ve learned from each one, and I’m really loving that part of the journey… most days!

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

A huge pro of running my own business is doing something I’m genuinely passionate and excited about. It gives me flexibility with my tamariki, and it’s something I can be really proud of building. I love that what I’m working on actually matters to me and feels like it has purpose.

As for cons, definitely the constant rollercoaster of highs and lows. You think you’re getting somewhere and then suddenly you hit a wall, or things don’t go as planned. There’s also a lot of learning as you go, wearing all the hats and juggling the creative side with the business side.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

I think my dream is to move to big business energy. We want to elevate our brand and give it more of a luxury, modern feel. We started as a side hustle, and it’s been a process to shift into a bigger brand presence. Our focus is going to be on doing a few things really, really well.

Ultimately, we want to get out there and help more busy families, like me, feel a little less overwhelmed. I want to offer something simple and practical that helps them let go of some of that constant noise.
