At Stillpalm Studio, they are here to remind you that it’s OK to pause, be still and take a moment to celebrate who you are, with the people that matter the most. They celebrate culture, authenticity, everyday moments and real, authentic connections that weave the fabric of your story. They capture the joy of shared laughter, candid behind-the-scenes moments and memories to last a lifetime. As a creative practice, they also offer photography, digital media and web design support for businesses looking to elevate their visual identity. Founded by multidisciplinary designer Deen Stewart, the studio blends a deep understanding of storytelling with thoughtful design and technical skill. Here she talks to The Natural Parent Magazine about the inspiration behind Stillpalm Studio, how she balances work and family, the challenges she has overcome, and her hopes and dreams for the future.
The passion: What inspired you to set up your business?
I have always been passionate about people, creative technology and business. Becoming a mother uncovered the urge to take action on all the things that I wanted to pursue. I remember telling my then one-year-old that I would do my best to help her achieve her dreams and goals, yet I was feeling unfulfilled at my job at the time. While I had achieved certain career goals, I missed photography and arts, and I was curious about creative technology. So – back to studies I went to explore Digital Media, User Experience Design and Photography. In short – my kids inspired me.

The launch: How did you start out in the beginning?
Stillpalm Studio is very much in its infancy, but I feel like the idea of having my own creative practice started through upskilling. I am a one-person shop and love all the people I get to meet along the way. While it is a competitive industry, I have found that the most successful business owners are the ones that have the best advice and have been incredibly supportive.
The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?
The biggest breakthrough was simply starting. I think getting out of your head and putting something out to start is a breakthrough in itself. Finding like-minded people helps you grow as a business owner and develop your skills, offering and service each day.

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
I am learning to time block and set clear boundaries. The best part about making the move to go all in on this opportunity has been the freedom to take time off for my children without asking for permission or feeling guilty. I get to schedule school excursions or adapt to my children’s needs and catch up on the business demands at a suitable time.
