Tucked away in the natural beauty of Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand, Lovette Heritage is a skincare, haircare and wellbeing brand rooted in nature, simplicity and family. Founded by Kelly Allport, the business was born from her desire to create gentle, trustworthy alternatives to conventional beauty products for her young daughter. What began with small batches of botanical oils and infused waters made at the kitchen bench has grown into a thoughtfully crafted collection of organic, multi-use products designed for the whole family. Guided by a deep connection to nature and a commitment to truly clean ingredients, Lovette Heritage reflects a return to simpler, more mindful self-care, with products designed to be safe, practical and enjoyable for everyday family use. Here, Kelly talks to The Natural Parent Magazine about the passion behind her business, the challenges she has overcome, and her hopes and dreams for the future.
The passion: What inspired you to set up your business?
Lovette Heritage began when my daughter started becoming curious about perfume and beauty products. Like many young girls, she was naturally drawn to beautiful scents, but I didn’t feel comfortable with the synthetic ingredients found in most conventional products.
So I began creating simple multi-use botanical oils and waters for her – something gentle, beautiful and made with ingredients I truly trusted.
Living on our farm in Hawke’s Bay, surrounded by herbs and flowers, it felt natural to start crafting these preparations ourselves. What began as something I made for her soon became something we began doing together: blending oils, talking about plants and turning everyday self-care into a small shared ritual.
Over time, those little moments grew into Lovette Heritage, a collection of botanical hybrid preparations designed to nourish the skin while bringing scent, intention and connection back to everyday care for our whole family.

The launch: How did you start out in the beginning?
In the beginning, it was very simple. I started by making small batches of botanical oils and infused waters at my kitchen bench using ingredients I trusted and loved – things that I had on hand.
At first, it was just for my daughter and our family, and I shared a few with friends. The response was so lovely that people began asking if they could buy them, and slowly, Lovette started to grow from there, very organically and in its own time.
The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?
Because Lovette is still very new, I would say the biggest breakthrough has simply been deciding to take the leap and turn something personal into a business. What began as something I created for my daughter and our family, quickly revealed a bigger purpose ultimately: offering a natural alternative to the highly fragranced and often toxic products that dominate the beauty industry, particularly for young people.
Lovette is about creating something safer and more intentional: high-quality, organic botanical preparations that can be used by the whole family and trusted on the skin. Realising that this small idea could become a meaningful alternative for others has been a powerful moment in the journey so far.

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
Balancing work and family is something I approach quite intentionally. We have four children, so my time for the business tends to happen in the quieter pockets of the day when our youngest is at nursery, early in the morning before everyone wakes or later in the evening once the house has settled.
I truly love being a mother and value that time deeply, so I try to structure my work around our family life rather than the other way around. At the same time, it’s incredibly fulfilling to have a creative outlet that follows my heart and allows me to build something meaningful alongside raising our children.
