Gentle, Child-Centred, Evidence-Based Guidance & Eco-Friendly Essentials for Potty Training

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

Because I tend to work with parents of babies, toddlers (and sometimes parents with school-aged children), I only keep the audience I build up for a few years and then when potty learning is no longer relevant to them, I need to start all over again trying to reach new parents! But the more parents who get the information they need to do better, the more the right messages will be passed on and we will see the change we need.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

I love seeing the difference I make to parents and the transformation that solving potty training problems has on the whole family. It’s particularly good to help parents feel empowered to work in playful partnership with their child and know that their relationship will flourish as a result. Sometimes it can feel like a battle to reach parents when there are so many other voices to compete with, the loudest of which often unwittingly perpetuate misinformation. It’s hard to get recognition for your hard work when you’re running your own business and sometimes I’ve asked myself whether I have the stamina. But reading through my Google reviews from the families I help makes the hard work totally worth it.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

My dream is that most children will be out of nappies before the age of 3, having had a positive experience with potty training. I have just released a written guide for potty training alongside a new podcast and I remain dedicated to reaching as many parents as possible. I believe that if enough people spread the right messages, we change things for the better. My hope is that through this, we can reduce the environmental impact of disposable nappies, the financial cost to parents and prevent the challenges that come from attempting to potty train with methods that don’t adequately prepare children for the tough transition that disposable nappies set them up for.
