The Drive: What challenges have you overcome?
I think the biggest challenges have been working with people during Covid, as I felt I had something to offer and wanted to make sure that I could help people when they needed it the most. It was a challenge working via Zoom, as I like to make a connection with the couple, and I am such a people person and plan to work interactively with them, so of course it was difficult to do this through a screen. But I did the best I could, and I always felt that my clients were so grateful for the courses I provided.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
So, the pros of my business are that I get to be with my children and be present during the days, it is flexible, and I dictate when I am available for teaching clients, so that is really something I am so grateful for. The cons are being away from family at weekends if I am teaching then – e.g. doing a full day course with a couple on a Sunday. When I work in the evenings sometimes, I have had such a hectic day with the kids that I feel tired and must pump myself up for the high energy work, so I can make sure that I deliver a good course to my clients.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
I plan to relaunch my accessible online hypnobirthing course, which people can access in their own time and do within their own timeframes, as well as still offering bespoke private packages with couples. I have just created an online community called Brave Mums Club, for mums who have lost a parent, as this is something I really struggled with when I lost my mum and became a mum myself. I wanted to create a safe space for other mums, where people can share stories and connect in their own grief and healing journeys. I plan to start a podcast one day for The Brave Mums Club. I feel like grief is a big subject and something people need to speak up about more often as it really is more common than we think. I would love to run a retreat for mums who have lost a parent too, because I have some amazing connections with different holistic wellness experts, and I think it could be such a special thing to offer people. I have lots of big hopes and dreams for the future and I feel excited about what I can create.
