Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

That’s tricky … I still work a full-time day job which can be quite demanding with long hours depending on the time of year. Usually I do a little OMni work in the morning, do a few household chores, and then go to work.

When I come home there is the dog, the cats, my son, then dinner, and then OMni. My fatigue levels have been quite difficult to manage but as long as I chip away at things they eventually get done.

I do try to walk the dog every morning, and to take time out at weekends, or the odd evening off, though I’m usually really conscious of my to-do list when I do that.

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

Aside from the fatigue, most of my challenges have been in my own head … I have had to work pretty hard to stay focused on my lane and not worry about what others are doing. It’s easy to become distracted by other people’s success and feel like you’re never doing enough.

And my menopause has taken the form of anxiety … quite an unexpected turn for me. So I read a lot of positive-focused snippets and material, practise gratitude (especially when I’m feeling anxious), and always look for the upside of all situations. These all help keep me feeling calmer and happier.

At the end of the day, I know I love my product, and the feedback I get is amazing … that keeps me going and helps me maintain a positive outlook for the future of OMni.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

The biggest pro is that you’re working on your own dream and vision – it’s so great to be able to bring your passion to life and see it evolve. And you are the boss of you – I get to make decision after decision about things, knowing that I am the only one accountable for setting the standards for OMni, and that’s exciting!

Cons would definitely be trying to be everything and all things to your business. I have learnt many skills and yet have also at times had to let go and ask someone else to help – I had to realise I can’t do everything!

If anyone asked me whether they should start their own business, I would totally say “do it!” … no regrets!

Hopes and dreams: What next?

I have a vision of at least one OMni balm in everyone’s handbag or pocket! And I have plenty of ideas for new OMni products in the pipeline so keep watching this space.

Ideally, I would love to be working in my business full time within the next 6 months, so that means work work work until I get there.

I am incredibly grateful for the support I have … I am working with some wonderful people who believe in me and my vision, who are prepared to go that extra mile with me.

I can’t wait for you all to try an OMni balm.
