The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
You name it, we’ve overcome it. Not being able to source materials or manufacturing in New Zealand, manufacturers closing due to Covid, delays in orders, delays in shipping, getting finance, illness, NZD value (oh my gosh, massive), we are currently working on getting into the US market, so there is a lot of red tape to wade through to make sure we are compliant.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The biggest pros are that you are only answerable to yourself and your customers (most of which are amazing), and managing a work-life balance can be easier as you can often work as and where needed rather than 9-5.
In terms of cons, you may not get paid for….years. You are responsible for ensuring compliance, etc., and so there is a lot of pressure to get that right.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
We are planning to expand in the US market this year and then beyond once we have that up and running. We are hoping to launch a lighter weight sleeping bag and a beautiful range of pyjamas later this year also.
