Pelvic Health Physio: Helping You Live Your Healthiest Life

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

In 2019 I was diagnosed with a somewhat rare, but very treatable, cancer. After my second surgery, which removed the tumor, I remember thinking to myself, “What am I waiting for? Just do the thing”. So, I said to my husband, once we’re through this, I’m going to start my clinic. I had one more surgery after that and I used my recovery time to set up everything I needed to go out on my own. I think about that phone call I received from my surgeon: the words, “We found cancer”, and then everything kind of going quiet. I actually think I laughed. But the experience of being the patient makes me the clinician I am proud to be.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

My never-ending to-do list certainly isn’t my favourite thing! There is always something to do, and I spend most of my spare time chipping away at something.

I wouldn’t trade it though. I love the flexibility it brings to spend time with my family. I’m also not good at being told what to do, so being the boss is great.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

I’m currently sitting in this moment where I can see my vision coming to fruition. We have our clinic that feels (and looks!) like a home. I have a team of clinicians that I trust, to care and treat our patients just as I would. I guess my next dream would be having an add-on gym space to facilitate our community’s health journey beyond the clinic room.
