The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?
We are a small business and slowly growing, but for us, the biggest breakthrough so far is the amazing feedback we have received from family and friends, but also from our customers. We have built relationships with our customers now who come back to us repeatedly. When they need a baby gift box, they come to us.
Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
The answer to this is help. We do a lot of our work when the kids are either sleeping during the day or at night. We are also lucky to have a great support network in our family. When we need it, our husbands and parents are there to help out with the kids so that we can get extra work done.
The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
In our first year of business, we have learnt a lot. The biggest challenge for us is to keep on top of stock and to ensure that we can provide our customers with new items regularly. We are always on the lookout for new suppliers and trending products. However, because we are still a small business, it is not always accessible.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The pros are that you work when it suits you and you have a true passion for what you do and believe in it. Also, the best thing is that you have control of the decisions and therefore can make your vision come to life.
In terms of cons, because this is a side business, it doesn’t always take priority. We are working mums too, so we have a family to feed, a house to clean and we also work outside of Big Love Co..
Hopes and dreams: What next?
Oh, this list can go on forever. Our hope is to make this our full-time gig. Also, we have ideas to really expand our product and supplier range and to get into gifting for expecting and new mums. We also would love to expand to special birthday gift boxes too. We know this is a long-term dream, but hey, two girls can dream.
