Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
I see the time that I spend in the studio crafting Plumage products as a creative outlet for myself. Life is busy as a mama with three wee kids, so I make sure to carve it out each week. I’m also blessed to have a great sidekick in my husband who will support me in doing what I love.
The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
My big challenge has been keeping up with all the admin involved in running a burgeoning business. I love to be out in the studio or foraging on the farm, not so much being stuck in front of a screen, but I’m learning to love taking the time to be organised as it is so crucial to staying on top of everything and keeping our home happy and relaxed.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
It can certainly be challenging to give myself permission to take a step back from the business sometimes and be present with family and friends, especially as my work/home life is so intertwined. In saying that, I love the creative independence of running my own business. It’s such a beautiful thing to see my products out in the real world, helping to heal and nourish my customers’ skin.
