Soul Strong: Igniting Faith, Purpose & Resilience

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

I’ve learned and am still learning to channel my insecurities, anger and pain into resilience and drive – allowing God to shape me for His kingdom.

My career has been spent in a male-dominated industry where women are sometimes supported in theory, but not always in practice. From the start, I was a square peg in a round hole, often the youngest in the room, expected to deliver the experience and maturity of those twice my age. I’ve had contracts end unexpectedly, served seven years in a volunteer role while peers advanced, and felt the weight of “starting late” in life.

On a personal level, I am married to my best friend and we have walked through heavy seasons in marriage. Our son was born with missing digits and limb differences, requiring surgeries with more ahead.

I’ve been told to rein in my passion, soften my expression and tone down my conviction, but God gave me a creative, innovative drive to see a better way and pursue it.

Today, with two kids and rent to pay, we’ve stepped away from paid employment to build something that will outlast us. Our challenges aren’t over – they come daily, weekly and seasonally – but we are called to something bigger, and to believe in Someone bigger.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

Hmm… do we have two hours? Lol. I’m a list kind of girl, so here it is:

Cons:

  • No steady stream of income.
  • Working from home can make it hard to switch off.
  • Everything falls on you – there’s no one else coming to save the day.
  • You have to learn new skills to cover every role when you can’t afford to hire.
  • Sick days don’t exist – if you don’t do it, it won’t get done.

Pros:

  • The freedom to create something that can generate income.
  • Setting your own hours.
  • Working on projects you genuinely care about.
  • The ability to dream big, then take concrete steps toward those dreams.
  • No need for approval from someone removed from the reality of your work yet holding the power to decide.
  • Pride in what you’ve built and continue to grow.
  • Being your own boss.
Hopes and dreams: What next?

It’s still early days for Soul Strong, and we’re intentionally establishing the rhythms that will shape our future. Each month, we’re releasing new digital courses through our website – resources designed to equip and inspire women wherever they are. Our current offerings include How to Study the Bible – for those wanting to go deeper into God’s Word; Steward the Sound – for worship leaders seeking to elevate their ministry; and Anchor Youth Ministry – a comprehensive toolkit for anyone passionate about leading youth for Jesus.

Alongside this, I’m committed to building an online community where women can engage with transformative content and connect deeply with one another as we grow a true sisterhood.

We’re also expanding our in-person opportunities, whether through a Thrive Tool Kit Masterclass or speaking engagements on resilience, leadership and empowerment. Looking ahead, our vision includes hosting an annual Soul Strong Conference: a space where women can gather to worship, receive inspiring biblical teaching and experience the joy and strength of sisterhood in its fullest expression.
