The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
We started discussing our subscription/honesty model in 2016 and in July 2018 we launched our new brand Au Natural Skinfood. The last 2.5 years have been a real journey of discovery, with considerable hurdles along the way. We launched 3 months later than we had planned, and we believe the journey will be on-going. Understanding the limitations of this planet and recognising that resources are not limitless in supply, our hope is to continue to develop products that will challenge our industry to make changes to futureproof this planet for our children and their children. These initiatives do cost money and another challenge is that to stay competitive we have had to wear these costs, possibly educating our subscribers that paying a little more really helps our planet.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
Definitely being able to live your passion is a pro and if along the way you are able to implement positive change that is a bonus. I think the cons of running your own business are the constant worries over finance and how you will balance the books every month. In the end, dreams cost money. Working very long hours can take its toll on your health and this needs to be kept in check.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
One of our mottos is “Fearlessly Healthy Faces”. Our goals now are to continue to bring quality natural ingredients to our subscribers and at the same time constantly improve our packaging solutions, whilst giving our audience information that can help them make small changes every day that improve our habitat.
