Teach Hypnobirthing and Turn your Passion into a Business

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

This is always a tricky one isn’t it.

The thing I love about being in business is that I’m in control of my schedule. I have boundaries around when I do work stuff so that during family time, I can be really present.

In the last 8 years though, I’ve learnt how to use time on my business more effectively. Even small pockets of time can have a big impact on growing your business when you are intentional and prioritise well. I also remember that this season of my life with my children being little isn’t forever, so in the future I will have more time for my business. So, it is totally OK for some projects to wait, as being with my children is more important right now.

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

Like many women in business, I have certainly experienced imposter syndrome and found myself not taking action that I was capable of because it felt out of my comfort zone and I was worried I wasn’t ready. From being around other incredible women in business and having mentors of my own, I’ve seen that these feelings are common and witnessed others working through these feelings. These examples have helped me on my journey too.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

One of the main pros of running a business is definitely the freedom side of things. I know I’d massively struggle to find employment that gave me the freedom to work around my four children like this does. I can set my own hours, take time off when I want, I have capacity to earn more when I need. These things are incredible and pretty unique to running a business.

As well as this, the satisfaction and the rewarding feeling of seeing what you’ve accomplished YOURSELF is amazing. There’s nothing like earning money from doing something that you truly love.

I know it’s not for everyone though. One of the cons of running your own business is that it is down to you. This can feel incredibly overwhelming at times. Having your heart so involved with it is beautiful but it also means it can be an emotional rollercoaster too. There are amazing highs when things are going great and sometimes emotional lows and overthinking when things aren’t going as well as you’d like.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

Oh my goodness, the future is so exciting. I dream to continue to grow and develop our community of hypnobirthing teachers. We currently have over 230 hypnobirthing teachers worldwide. I aim to reach 1000 in the next 5 years. Imagine the impact of 1000 hypnobirthing teachers supporting families to have beautiful empowering births however they happen?

Community and connection is so important at Love Your Birth. I plan to enhance our beautiful community further with more in-person events, even more courses being launched and other opportunities for our teachers to grow.

Visit the Love Your Birth website to find out more, and join their supportive communities on Facebook and Instagram.
