Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
I am fueled by coffee and fortunate to have amazing family whose support allows me to manage that never-ending juggle. I had the benefit of learning the lesson pre-baby of what having no balance can do to health, relationships, and missing out on the important stuff in life. I was able to take that experience and ensure that when faced with future choices that could influence that balance, I did so with the aim of keeping those scales even!
The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
There have been production delays and other COVID-related delays, however the biggest challenge is more so around ‘not knowing what you don’t know’. As a small business owner, it’s certainly a case of learning along the way. You can plan as much as possible and anticipate that there will be stumbling blocks along the way, but mostly being ready to manage each roadblock as they surface.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The pros are being able to watch your own vision and work come to life and meeting like-minded people along the way.
In terms of cons, certainly when starting out, having to practise the art of patience while building your business (which in hindsight, is probably a good thing!).
Hopes and dreams: What next?
Our next steps will be to expand the range, spread the word, and continue to raise funds along the way for a cause to support the community.
