Are we ever going to return to life before Covid?

Gen Z’s Regeneration7

With this generation of young people accounting for approximately 41% of the global population, they are emerging from the pandemic as the most transformed by its effects. This group say they are more likely to continue with activities they’ve picked up during lockdown, stay in touch through online communities and platforms, reduce their impact on the environment and remain active on social issues.

So what do these trends mean for our families?

The biggest impact is going to be our use of the internet and its devices. As if it didn’t have a big enough influence before Covid-19, the internet is going to be integrated into every aspect of our daily lives as the norm.

Schools will adopt new systems that can allow students to study from home, shopping will be done virtually and more services will continue to be contactless.

Our roles as caregivers won’t be to simply monitor screen time any more, but to take an active role in discussing what our children are doing there. Take time to disconnect as a family from all devices and slow down in the hustle and bustle of life. Choose activities that are longer in completion to remain away from distractions and get into nature to experience the serenity of silence.

Now is the time to take control over the internet and use it to our advantage to connect globally, grow our businesses and remain safe, but we must also put measures in play that keep us in control of our consumption and the consumption of the generations we are responsible for.
