The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Building a business in such a niche area meant starting from scratch – there’s no template for running a head lice removal service in the UK! I had to figure out everything: pricing, branding, client education, even explaining what I actually do. I’ve also faced the stigma attached to lice – people often feel embarrassed – but my mission is to change that conversation. Seeing families relax, laugh and learn during a visit makes all the hard work worthwhile.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The best part is the freedom – to design a service that truly helps people, to choose my hours, and to make a real difference in families’ lives. The downside? You’re never fully “off duty”. There’s always admin, content creation or another idea brewing at 2am! But I wouldn’t trade it – the impact Nit Happens has made locally keeps me motivated every single day.

Hopes and dreams: What next?
I’m excited to grow Nit Happens into something bigger – I’m developing prevention products, educational resources and franchise opportunities so other parents can build flexible, family-friendly careers too. My dream is to see Nit Happens become a nationwide movement, empowering parents, reducing stigma and proving that even the most uncomfortable problems can be handled with care, humour and a touch of pink and sage.
Visit the Nit Happens website to find out more, and connect with them on Facebook and Instagram.
