Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
During our busy periods, it’s almost impossible. I still try to work during my son’s naps but you will often find me at my desk in the middle of the night making orders. I’m still working on finding a work-life balance but with time, and as my son gains more independence, I hope it will become easier.
The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Before I took on the challenge of starting a new business, I had a great income in a steady job in a field I was good at. You must think I’m crazy, and I tried to make it work for a little while, but the hours were hard with zero flexibility. I was physically and emotionally drained. I missed my son.
Being a small business owner means you make the rules. Need more business? Advertise. Need a holiday? Let your followers know. Having mums as our main customers is the best because nobody is as supportive or understanding – we’ve all been there!
