Delicious, Natural Lactation Hot Chocolate for Milking Mamas

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

Balancing work and family has been one of my highest priorities. After closing my Pilates studio due to lockdowns, I was able to focus on Milky Me instead, and work on finding the right balance between work and family, so I was fortunate to be able to do this while being with my two young girls. This was so important to me because little kids are only little for such a short amount of time, I didn’t want to miss out on this precious, precious time.

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

Being the owner of a new small business in its foundation stages, it has been all about learning. It’s very easy to make mistakes along the way, but accepting anything that goes wrong as an opportunity to learn from can be very rewarding. My philosophy is, every experience in life can either be seen as a blessin’ or a lesson.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

I LOVE the freedom of running my own business. I get to set the rules, agenda, and have full creative control over the project, and best of all, I also get to connect and collaborate with so many other amazing and supportive women doing amazing things in similar spaces. The hard part is that there’s a lot of responsibility to own, and because I run Milky Me from home, it can sometimes be challenging to disconnect from the ‘business brain’ when I’m spending time with my family.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

Receiving so much positive feedback from mamas who try Milky Me just makes me so happy that I started this journey. I’ve always tried to focus on how I can add extra value into peoples lives. That’s why Milky Me is so much more than a business – it was created to help support mamas (while tasting delicious!). There needs to be more support and collaboration, and less competition. So that’s what I’m working on next – more collaborations with other women, to help give support to as many mamas as possible!
