In the evenings, I’m often either knitting or crocheting merino wool hats for ‘Littlemore’, a New Zealand-based charity. My four-year-old is also wanting to join in and help me – it’s fun trying to teach a little one to crochet!
The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
The challenges I tend to face are overcoming self-doubt. I often ask myself, will people like this design or colour? The sales speak for themselves and we should all try to ignore that negative voice in our heads!

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
Running a home-based business has many pros and cons: I don’t have to work during set business hours, which was great when I had a young baby. I could spend my day with him while he was awake and work on the business while he was asleep. Now that he is older, life is a lot more structured.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
Our plan for the future is that we hope to expand Merino Mana into a bricks and mortar store one day.
