Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

One of the things that drove me to want to start my own business was the flexibility that comes with it. I am so grateful that I get to split my time between my children, my incredible clients and everything else. I have set up my business and childcare so I have a day with each of my children and three working days. I definitely did not get it right straight away, and of course there are times when I work late or over the weekend. As I am sure any other mumpreneur will tell you, starting a business is one big balancing act, but it is so worth it.

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

The big driver for me has been the desire to help as many mums as I can to not go through what I did and feel so alone and overwhelmed. I think there is a belief that because we are mums, we must just endure the hard bits and not reach out for help or admit things are tough. I want to change that narrative. Getting support for my son after 8 months of me not getting more than 3 to 4 hours of sleep was genuinely life changing, and that is something I hear echoed back to me by the families I work with. Sleep deprivation impacts every aspect of our lives when it happens, but it really does not have to be that way.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

I am excited to be working on a number of different projects that I am hoping to launch later this year. I will be launching a comprehensive baby and child sleep course, some online courses to support mums using my holistic health coaching, and a lot of the techniques I found that supported me, such as mindfulness, re-finding balance and supporting mums with health and wellness. I also really want to start a podcast focused on holistic ways to support women on their motherhood journey with a focus on postnatal depression. So, it is fair to say I have a lot of plans and the next two years are shaping up to be incredibly exciting!
