The Drive: What challenges have you overcome?
The start of last year was challenging as we were just taking off. We thought, oh no, what’s going to happen? but we just pivoted to more online marketing and selling more through our social networks. And through that, it has been a great learning curve. I think there will always be challenges but we discuss them through together, come up with a plan and go for it.
For better or worse: what are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The pros are that we get to work together as a mother-daughter combo, which is great. We also get to do what we both love in making cute, cool and beautiful handmade crafts.
The cons are the hours you sometimes have to put in and the paperwork. Let’s be honest, who loves paperwork?! But if we didn’t have the cons, we wouldn’t be where we are, so you just have to get on with it.
Hopes and dreams: What’s next?
I have just had my second child so to be able to keep this as my full-time job would be amazing. It would be great to have a year full of markets all over the North Island too, as we just love them.
