The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Not knowing anything about design or web-design was challenging! I was fortunate to have a wonderful team to guide me through these processes step by step to achieve my vision. I’m a firm believer in relying on other people ‘s expertise where I am lacking.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The flexibility is incredible. I fit work into my life and can adjust my day to make it work for me and my family. I also love being my own boss and setting my own challenges. My day is arranged by me, based around my priorities and needs to keep things running, for the achievement of my own goals. It is very rewarding and my successes feel multiplied because I receive the full benefit of my hard work.
On the negative, the responsibility is more burdensome than being an employee. While the highs are incredible, the lows are amplified too and the pressure is real. There is no safety of a certain level of income and taking a meaningful break is a lot harder to plan.
For me the pros definitely outweigh the cons and I wouldn’t change a thing.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
My dream is that GORGO becomes a household name. A place where new parents go to search for everything they need for their new arrivals and the first place parents think of to list items when they want to rent them out, sell them or simply give them away to a new home. I want to contribute to a world where the circular economy is commonplace, where we think of used before new and we place value on what used items can provide to someone else. I believe in our motto of Happy Baby, Happy Planet and want to see this come to life!
Visit the GORGO website to find out more and follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
