The Drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Trying to be different from the person next to me. Not wanting to have the same fabric from the mainstream stores that you can get. Trying to source something different and keeping my clients happy.
Working from home is hard work. I thought it was going to be easy rolling out of bed and straight to work. I have to remind myself it is not only my job, my business, but my passion.
I have to make sure that I don’t let my passion escape me, and that can be a struggle.
Also learning to be able to put my phone down to be able to interact with Jett. The bright lights of online businesses never sleep – to your customers you are open 24/7, and I find it hard to say no. I go above and beyond for my clients.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
A major pro for me is that with Jett being my only child, it gives me a little bit more time to spend with him, watching him grow.
Another pro is having this overwhelming feeling that something I have made from scratch and by my hands is getting worn by many children.
Cons: putting a great deal of pressure on myself as I am such a perfectionist.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
About a month ago, I had part of my dream happen. I approached another small business who is stocking some of my items in their store. I wish to be stocked in more stores. I am in launching my website very soon. I am going to be focussing on more small releases and not as many custom orders.
I feel I am growing day by day, I love getting messages and seeing photos of everyone’s little ones in my designs. Getting repeat customers – the feeling is very hard to explain.
