Making Yoga Accessible to Mums Everywhere

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

I launched online in February 2020 and New Zealand (along with most of the world) went into lockdown in March 2020. As soon as we went into lockdown, EVERY yoga studio, gym, etc. went online – a lot of the bigger businesses went online for free through lockdown so that was a really overwhelming time. It felt like I was swamped by bigger, more well-known brands.

Luckily for me, I had my loyal following and also the added advantage of being able to be contacted directly for questions, concerns or sequence requests.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

Pros are definitely being able to have flexibility for my family. Plus being able to focus on relationships without worrying about targets.

Cons are that it’s hard to always be responsible for your bounce. When you get a knock back or make a mistake, you don’t always have someone there to simply pick you up. You are responsible for your own bounce.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

My next focus is to deliver postnatal programs specialised for rectus diastasis and pelvic floor strengthening. So even if you aren’t into yoga, Topknot Yoga can offer some simple exercises to help restore your abdomen and strengthen your pelvic floor function.

Head over to the Topknot Yoga website to learn more about the services available. You can also join their supportive communities on Facebook and Instagram.
