The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Early on in owning my business, making sure I didn’t work a whole week in my pyjamas would have been a challenge – who doesn’t love some work wear freedom? But now the main challenge I would have to say would be shipping costs! Shipping really is the unexciting but crucial part of me selling online, and at the moment with the rising costs affecting almost every part of my business, it sometimes feels a little overwhelming, and although I can’t control some of the freight frenzy, I have been working on some new products which will give my customers more options when it comes to shipping and also give me the ability to start selling internationally again.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
You’re every part of your business, which is a pro and a con in the same sentence, but in saying that, running my own business and caring for my children without someone else’s restrictions is truly the most freeing and empowering feeling, one I wouldn’t give up in a hurry.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
My dreams for the future? That’s a good question. Right now I have some amazing textile designs I’m working on. I’m very excited about the release of those, but I guess the big picture dream is to continue building the BABYBABY brand alongside my wholesalers, adding in more and more handmade products, sustainable options and expanding my size inclusive range.
