The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
The practical side of sourcing Joyfull products has been a challenge. Going back and forth with samples and stock orders with overseas suppliers has been a learning curve, because what you see online and order is sometimes different from what you get!
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
I love running my own business because I get to do things my way and be as creative as I want. I get to build a future for my family while doing something I am passionate about. One con is that I can’t just take a day off if I’m ill. Running your own business is a full-time commitment – you must show up and do the work even on the days you don’t feel like it. Another con is the parent-guilt that can kick in when it feels like I’m constantly working. On the one hand, I know that I am working to support my family, but on the other hand, I want to work on getting a better balance so that I’m fully present when spending time with Louis and Josh. It’s hard to switch your mind off from your business sometimes!
Hopes and dreams: What next?
I want to continue to build Joyfull. My dream would be that Joyfull Mealtimes becomes a recognised household name in Australia, that we are known for not only our products but for our compassionate, gentle approach, and, above all, because the solutions we provide make a difference in the lives of families.
Visit the Joyfull Mealtimes website to find out more about the services and products they offer. You can also follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
