The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
During my third pregnancy I suffered health complications and I really struggled to stay in the right mindset to run my business. Due to deteriorating mental health and financial struggles, I stopped posting on social media and made preparations to close my business.
After the birth of my baby I started seeing a psychologist to work on my mental health. During this time I realised how much I did not want to see my business close down. Realising my goals and getting back into the right mindset has been my biggest challenge to date.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The hardest part of running my own business has been finding ways to switch off. It is the first thing I think of when I wake up and the last thing on my mind before I go to sleep. Finding balance between work and life is so important to prevent burnout!
My favourite part of running my own business is connecting with other parents, providing babywearing and breastfeeding support to encourage deeper connections: family connections. I also love being in a position to help other Australian small businesses by stocking and promoting their products.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
My goal is to be able to leave my part-time job and focus on the business full time.
My dream is to be able to move into a retail space where I can make my services and products more accessible to locals. There are so many great brands available exclusively online. As a parent myself, I often find myself wishing I could see products in store before purchasing but this is not an option for a lot of great products.
