An avid knitter since she was 10 years old, Fatima Bowden loved to make items for her friends and family. Encouraged to sell her beautiful creations, she and her daughter began attending their local markets, gaining new customers along the way, before setting up their website and social media pages. The passion: What inspired you to set up your business?
I started knitting for family and friends over 20 years ago, and one day, someone just suggested I sell my creations, so I did, and here we are.
The launch: How did you start out in the beginning?
In the beginning, I only knitted up beanies and sold them on eBay and at markets. My business grew from there, updating and adding to the range.
The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?
My breakthrough came from listening to customers’ requests and ideas. They inspired me to add more to my product line, like cardigans and booties. I found that I had more customers buying from me when I was able to offer a complete set, and more sizes to choose from.
