Beyond Birth Support: Nurturing & Nourishing New Parents

The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?

My biggest breakthrough was receiving positive feedback from my clients. Knowing you are helping them overcome whatever bumps they face is so rewarding

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

I am very clear about my hours of work and what I can mentally and emotionally manage, so that I can be present at home and present for my clients.

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

It’s always difficult launching a new business and feeling that anxiety of ‘am I good enough?’ and ‘do I know enough?’. I use the positive affirmations of yes, I am enough, and reflections and feedback to guide my practice. I know that if I need to do research to give enough information then I do. Also, often the issues can’t be fixed, but somehow, they can be reduced or talked about and that is often the best solution.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

There is lots of work involved behind the scenes, prepping your info sheets, questionnaires, keeping up to date with the latest evidence-based research, etc., but the practical element is the best thing. Talking with parents and connecting with them is very rewarding.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

I would like to see my business be funded by the Ministry of Health so that anyone can benefit from some nurturing throughout their parenting journey
