Homeschooling Insights: The Newly Released Homeschool Report 2017

Homeschool Diplomas
There is nothing mysterious about a diploma issued by a homeschool. As the administrator of your school, parents get to set the requirements for graduation. When they determine that the children have met the requirements, they can issue a diploma to certify that fact.

Home School Legal Defense Association states the following:

A high school diploma is a document that bears record of the completion of a course of study. If you’re wondering whether your homeschooled student can receive a diploma, the answer is yes!

As the parent, you’ve prescribed your child’s course of study and you can present a diploma that indicates he has successfully completed it. Some correspondence schools also provide diplomas for completion of their course of study. You can purchase a personalized high school diploma from the HSLDA store.

We did not ask if parents gave diplomas to their graduates. Let us know in the comments below if you participated in the study and you’ve awarded diplomas to your graduates.

Homeschooling Stories
We’ve asked the respondents of the study to Tell us a short inspirational / funny / sad story related to homeschooling. The responses that we received are phenomenal.

Here are a few of them, the final homeschooling research paper contains 60 pages of heart-warming stories from people that homeschool.

  • Katrina from AU, 2 children: My son is so interested in everything and highly motivated to learn topics thoroughly. He has been known to wake-up, eat his breakfast, stretch and say “Right Mum! Today I would like to draw the Solar System.” He proceeded to do this, labeling and coloring each planet in order of their orbit, then tested me on their composition, distance from the sun, relationship with earth etc, at least one fact for each planet.
  • Anna from the USA, 4 children: I threatened them I was going to send them to school last week. I thought I was serious and started protesting. It was funny seeing there reaction but I Honestly loved the feedback it gave me.
  • Kelly from AU, 5 children: At 12, my eldest daughter is learning Latin, doing university level courses in history and science, setting up an online ecourse business, and can sew, cook, crochet, bead, garden and dye like a pro. The time that homeschooling has given her to follow and develop her interests has allowed the time to learn all of that at a young age.
  • Rubria from the USA, 1 child: Home schooling/Unschooling my daughter has been the most beautiful and meaningful learning experience for me. Slowly but surely, we are both getting to know each other at a level I never imagined possible. I am breaking patterns and paradigms imposed by the education system I was put through as a child. I see a naturally happy, curious, inquisitive child enjoying every day at her own pace, learning everything she “should” know for a child her age and much much more!
