It’s the little things: The gift of kindness and appreciation

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

I just fit it all in around my kids. They will always be my priority, but when they are at school and kindy I am able to focus my time on my business. Then in the evenings once they are in bed (or any spare minute I have!) I will market what I am doing – at this point mainly via Facebook.

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

I think people are so busy these days, rushing around trying to juggle so many things, that the service I am offering may not be up there on their priority list. But at the same time, it is these busy people that I am trying to help, and to save them valuable shopping time. Also, there are a lot of online gift companies around, but what I offer is a personal, easy and friendly service to cater for all budgets.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

The pros are that I am able to work around my kids’ schooling and activities, but I can also work a little when they are around too. My six-year-old loves what I do and helps me to put the gift boxes and packages together. I love that I am teaching my children to be kind and show appreciation. I can’t see many cons so far, except that I don’t have the 9-5 hours to put into it at this stage.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

I just want to get everyone thinking about others more. It spreads happiness. I see and hear of so many that are busy, stressed, sad or celebrating something wonderful, and I think I want to just try to get the message of love and kindness and appreciation out there so much more. Down the line I would love to extend the services I offer. I love the idea of being able to deliver a much-needed coffee to a new mum or helping her fold her washing. I just want to make the world a kinder place.
