Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
It can definitely be a challenge to fit it all in, but I am a very hands-on mama to a beautiful 15-month-old daughter Mila and her wellbeing and happiness always comes first. Once a week, she enjoys time with the grandparents while I use the commercial kitchen, and all the rest of my work is done when she is either asleep or late at night when I can focus on everything else. My husband has some pretty crazy hours in his industry so we have never had a conventional 9-5 set-up. We make sure we get some awesome quality time in, going to the park and zoo whenever we can. Family time is important.
The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
I was super technically challenged and had to learn how to set up a website and about e-commerce as I went along. I wanted to overcome the challenge and was so proud once I did it all. Even if I never sold a single thing, that was an achievement in itself!
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The pros are that you are in charge of creating and designing products that people can really enjoy and can help them, which is an amazing feeling.
The cons are that there are a lot of little extras you have to consider when starting out. It can be a tad expensive, especially if you want to use quality ingredients in the product which was something I wasn’t going to compromise on, but it was all worth it.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
I am currently growing my website and products on offer to include a range of natural organic products including balms and breastfeeding teas. I would love to become a one-stop shop for all things natural for baby and breastfeeding supply needs.
I would also just like people to recommend The Blissful Mum products to others and I can create a lovely group of customers who I can care for by supplying quality tasty snacks when they need them.
