It was her daughter Isabella that inspired Victoria Hibbins to create her own children’s hair accessories. Isabella was born with a full head of hair and at just a few months old needed something to keep her beautiful locks away from her face. Frustrated by a lack of pretty and good-quality accessories on the market in New Zealand, she began ordering products from Australia, spending a small fortune on shipping costs.
A suggestion from her husband to start making her own accessories really struck a chord with her. She already had a degree in fashion design and an ongoing desire to work in the apparel industry, so it seemed like a great way to live out her dream and focus her design skills on babywear.
After spending a lot of time perfecting her bow-tying technique, she developed what was to become her signature bow-tying style, which she describes as “poofy and pretty”. And so, her venture began…
She started out by selling products to her friends and family on Facebook and then, after lots of great feedback from happy customers, she opened her webstore Isabella Bows.
